The Desk Rat

Task Description:For this task we each group had to read a book about different things my group Cameras read about a teacher bringing a Class Rat into class and each student had a turn looking after it.In this task we had to put in the detail about the Characters and the settings and problem and other things.When we finish we have to ask our teacher if we can post it and if he says yes then we can post it.

Sponge Throwing

Walt: to write a Successful piece of writing
Today we did something extremely fun that any kid would want to do to their teacher.Have you ever threw wet sponges at your teacher before? Read on to find out the amazing things we did to our teachers.

Firstly the whole Year 6 space walked quietly down to the bottom feild. As my class Room 7 we were

walking my teacher Mr Goodwin was holding a towel,Snorkel mask and Flippers then I knew we were going to do something extremely fun.When we got down to the bottom field I saw two men wearing orange vest and they were, Mr J and Mr Somerville. I saw to large orange cones on each side and three rows of different coloured buckets, in each row there were three buckets and each on was filled with cold water with a sponge in it.Then Mr Somerville told my class to get into three equal lines so we did that and then two more Year 6 classes coming and they were Room 6 and 8 they had to do what we did so they did.

Mr J and Mr Somerville was telling us what we were going to do as they were talking I saw my teacher taking his clothes off and he was wearing togs underneath and then I saw the other teacher do that too, then Mr J put one chair out in front of each line.Then the teachers were putting Snorkels and Goggles on and then Mr Somerville said that each person that’s hear gets to throw a sponge at there teacher.Mr Somerville told us that each person get a throw when your finish you have to go to the back of the line and it would be the next person’s turn the faster you do it the more turns you get.So all the teacher went to go sit on the chair and everybody was jumping with joy we were so happy that the day had come and we got to throw wet soaked sponges at our teachers.Also Mr Somerville said the class that gets their teacher the most wet three people get to soak there teachers with a bucket of water.

It was time for it to start Mr Somerville said first extraburtion step to the front and the first one was Marike then Mr Somerville said reload and then FIRE then Marike threw it but she missed and the other people from our class threw it and got Mr Goodwin.Then it was mine turn I stepped to the front and reloaded my sponge with the water and threw it when I threw it I nearly hit Mr Goodwin in the none say part then I ran and got my sponge and put it back in the bucket then it was the next person’s turn and then it kept going.Miss Sio was leading because she was wet the most and there was one extremely funny but were Lostie threw his sponge and it hit Mr Goodwin right in the face.There was another one were this boy Paschel threw his sponge and it hit Mr Goodwin in the private part so hard.

Lastly I think that Mr Goodwin was soaked that his t-shirt was soaked that you could almost see his stomach sticking out then I thought that Miss Parrant was the second and Miss Sio was the third because Miss Sio didn’t look that soaked.Then Mr J and Mr Somerville stopped that hole game and picked the three most accurate people that threw there sponges the three from my class were, Chance,Lostie and Paschel. What they got to do was the most funniest bit and it was they got to throw a hole bucket full of ice cold water on them,so there other people were choose to throw there bucket of water on there teachers.At once Chance,Lostie and Paschel stepped to their buckets and walked to Mr Goodwin and threw it Chance threw her one on top of Mr Goodwin’s head and Paschel missed Mr Goodwin and Lostie threw it on Mr Goodwin’s face.Everybody was laughing when they threw the water on the teachers,then Mr Goodwin told ever class to get back into there lines and walk silently back to class I could see Mr Goodwin soaked with water.I was feeling really delighted that we got to do that to our teachers I enjoyed it so much.

When I did this I felt really happy to throw wet sponges at my teacher.I think that this was the most coolest thing I got to do to my teacher ever.I wish that I could do this every day to my teacher.

Task Description:

This task was actually for our writing test and it was about throwing wet sponges at our teacher.We got this paice of writing test out of our writing doc and then we put it onto another doc and edited it.When we finish we have to ask our teacher we can post it and if he says yes then we can.

Amazing Year 6 Camp

Intro:

Have you ever seen a Stingray before?Year 6 at Pt England School went on a Camp on Kawau Island.Us Year 6’s did fun and exciting things that other kids would want to do.Have you ever Kayaked so hard that you made it to Survivor island? Well read on to find out more exciting things!!!

Body 1:

Once all the luggage was on the boat we all got into our camp line,Bentzon,Mansion,Kawau and Kats. Then Mr Somerville sent lines to go on the ferry the Captain of the ferry told us that your hands have to be free and no holding jumpers or anything else.Once we were all on the ferry some of us were on the top but some of us couldn’t fit so they had to go to the boat. When we got on the boat it was 30 minutes long until we arrived at our destination.We we got off the ferry once again we made a chain and started passing down the bags and placing them nicely on the deck,once all the bags we on the deck we were sent to go down on the grass and wait for Pete and Erin, Pete and Erin are the two amazing people that run Camp Bentzon. When Peter and Erin came they both told all of us were we could play and what we couldn’t do.Then the moment came that lots of people were waiting for and it was Killer hill, it is called Killer hill because the people that walk up it they Kill the hill by Conquering it so Mr J and Mr Somerville were in the front and the rest of the teacher and helpers were at the back. Killer Hill was very steep so we walked up the hill then had Morning tea and then walked on the other side and went down to the park and had Lunch then we walked back up the hill and then down the hill to Camp.When I got down the hill people we grabbing their bags and heading up to there Cabin and some people were playing on the park and playing vollyball.So I went and grabbed my Bag and went up to my Cabin on one side it was the boys and on the other was the girls I was in a Cabin we my friends and they were,Brooklyn,Sonnia, Nevaeh and Quincess then I unpacked some of my stuff including we togs because some of us were going for a swim then I went in the water and then swam to the pontoon and started jumping off then I got out and went for a shower and then for dinner we had,Beef with peas,carrots and gravy and also roasted potatoes it was so yummy then we got into our Pj’s and brushed his teeth and then we all went into a empty room and watched a movie.The Movie we were watching was The Princess Bride the movie was one and a half long then once the movie was finished we all went up into our cabin got tucked into our sleeping bags and blanket and then it was Lights out.

Body 2:

I heard A loud noise and it was the Bugle.So I went down stairs and put my shoes on and went down near the Volleyball net, I saw Mr J and Mr Sommerville there once everyone was there we all went on our run lots of us were just walking people we were still asleep.I ran back down to Camp and lots of people had free time and I went and played on the swing,then I overheard the Bugle blow again but this time it was for breakfest. So I ran to the deck lined up into my Camp group,Kawau and I’m the Captain for my group along with three other people,my group was trying so hard to sit up and go first and we did go first so we walked over to Mr Sommerville and sat down at out table,each group had a table to sit at and each table had there Camp name on it.The girls were sitting on one table and the boys were sitting on the other then the boys table from my group had to go back outside and come back in silently then the other table went and then we went.

For breakfast they were serving Cercel and once we finished that then it was HOT breakfast, my team got sent up and we had,toast with spaghetti,peas,carrots and potatoes and it was nice I had two plates.Then Mr Sommerville told us that we will go up stairs and get out our stuff we need for the day so I grabbed my tog towel and water shoes and put that into my bag and because Kawau B first activity was the BIVOUAC it was wear you grab sticks and things off the ground and build A hut for you group to fit in I was in a group of 4 with boys so we walked up killer hill near the Abseiling and then started building a hut,your hut has to be good for the water to not come in because your teacher will poor water on your hut and see if it would be stabled.Then 20 minutes later we were finished I was proud of what we built then our helper,Chris she poured the water off and then SPLASH mostly all the water went on John and he was anger but then I overheard the Bugle and it was for Morning tea for Morning tea we had,Biscuits and Fruit once we finished it we lined back up into our lines and got sent of to out next active and that was SAILING so I got changed into my togs and put my water shoes on then headed down to the beach.I saw Mr Goodwin and Pete down at the beach and my group sat on the edge of the bank and then Pete was telling us about four things we need to keep in our minds when SAILING, he also told us about safety when were around it and then 5 minutes later I was in a Sailing Boat with Jordan.When me and Jordan was Sailing I was scared I was going to fall in because I kept leaning in the water then 40 minutes later we were finished we all took off our Life Jackets and then I said a Thank-You note to Peter then the Bugle ran and it was time for Lunch.

We did the same for breakfast,we lined up and got sent in to eat.For lunch we had Hot Dogs with tomato sauce and mastered it was nice I had to get two.Once it was finished we all got sent to our next activity with our teacher.We went to the Concourse and it is the Confident Course because you have to be Confident when you climb up things.So we went on our way with Mr J and he told us that we need a Helmet but there was only two so we had to swap around and then I went second it wasn’t really scared because we had to climb up and then climb back down and it was fun we went through all the other activities and then we came to the last one which I think looked fun and scary.The last one was were you had to wear a Helmet and this things you wear around your waist and then you had to hold on to the sides of the rope and walk a cross I was 3rd to last and when I went it wasn’t that scary until I got near the middle and it started wobbling I was scared was going to fall out I remembered that I had ropes attached to me then I got to the end and then the others went and then we were finished then Cable said a Thank-You Note to Mr J and then we headed back to Camp.Then it was afternoon tea and we had Biscuit and Fruits again and went to our next activity our next activity was the Burma Trail, The Burma Trail is where your Blindfolded and then you hold on the rope and then the rope will lead you to the end when I was doing tripped over things and hit into things and then there was this one bit where a was holding on to the rope and then I fall and ankle broke myself it was funny then this boy Sione was telling me my steps then finally I was at the end then I took my blindfold off and the sun was so bright then we all headed back to Camp and we could go for a swim

I got changed into my togs and put on my swimming shoes then I ran down to the water and hopped in it was so cold but the I drove in and it was freezing I saw lots of people swimming to the Pontoon so I swam to the Pontoon, I climbed up the latter and started jumping off and bombing some people were trying to push me off then 30 minutes later we all had to swim back and go for a shower.I swam and grabbed my towel and ran to my cabin grabbed my stuff and went for a shower we had to have 3 minutes showers then I was finished got changed and went outside and played.I was playing volley then the Bugle rang then I ran up sat in my line and waited to be sent off.Then my group was the 3rd to go we sat down at our table and then waited then my table got sent and for dinner we had,spaghetti,mince,Potatoes I had to have two plates then it was desert time we had,Ice Cream,Sprinkles,Fruit Salad,Waffa and that was nice.Then Mr Sommerville told us to go up stairs and brush our teeth and then get changed into our Pj. Then we all ran back down and sat in our lines again and it was dark but this time we were going to watch a movie so we went into the empty room and they put the DVD in and played the movie the movie was The Princess Bride, the movie had a lot of kissing when the movie was finished some people were sleeping then we all got sent to our rooms I tucked myself into my sleeping bag and blanket then I went to sleep.

BODY 3:

I woke up started talking to the others and then I needed to go toilet but I was too late because the Bugle rang and I ran down to the Volleyball net and then went on our run and then came back again and had free time this time I was playing on the park then I heard Mr J blow the Bulge then I ran and lined up so my team could go first.Then we got sent in then we got picked to go and for breakfast that time we had Cercel again and hot food and for hot food we had,spaghetti with toast,mince and Potatoes we basically had potatoes for everything but I loved it because i like potatoes then we had I two plates then we got sent up to our cabin to grab the stuff we needed then I put my shoes on and played outside because we had free time then I heard the Bugle again and got sent off to our first active for day three our first activity was Orienteering I was with Sione and Caleb we were through half of it until it started pouring with rain the rest of my team ran back to camp but me and Sione and Caleb stayed because we wanted to finish it then 20 minutes it stopped and then we kept doing it then at the end we did it then it was time for Morning tea we had Biscuit and Fruit.It was time for our next activity and it was,Abseiling, people said the Abseiling was scary because we had to climb with this high building thing and then Abseil back down.We put our Helmet and Harness on the first to go up and then come back down was Sione I was third to last, it came to my turn I walked up towards my helper she attached the rope onto my haness then I started making my way up towards the top.I tried to not look down but I couldn’t help it and I looked down and it was so high but i’m not that afraid of heights so it was cool then I reached the top and then Maddy our Instructor out another rope onto me and then she told me to put my two legs on the plate form and start lowering my bum down before my legs and so I did it and I didn’t fall on the plate form like or the other people I looked down and I was pretty scared.Then I started coming pretty fast and I wasn’t scared anymore then when I got to the ground I was happy then I took of my Helmet and Harness then when everybody was finished we all headed back to camp and so people were just coming back from there activity then it was time for Lunch we lined up and got sent inside to collect our food for Lunch we had, Burgers but the meat wasn’t a patty it was ham and beef it was nice.When I finished my Burger we all got sent to our next activity and our next activity was, Kayaking so we all got changed into our togs popped our water shoes on an ran down to the beach were Mr Sommerville and Erin was Erin was telling us about how to be safe in the Kayak then it was time to get into a Kayak and start spalding we all had a Lifejacket on incase we fell in then we were spalding and I kept up with Erin and then all I felt from Mr Sommerville was a splash of water jump on my face and it was Mr Sommerville fault but it was fun then we all stop and then Erin said we were going to Kayak all the way to Survivor Island.We were palding and it was fun as it was sunny no rain we were in Survivor island and then Survivor Island is a very small Island when we got there was like a very small hill and lots of oyster shells we pulled up on saw and I fell out I nearly hit the rock but I didn’t.We came under the hill and there was a little pool with these bugs and you could put your finger in and it would tickly then we went out and Erin said if any body wanted to taste a osty and all of us said yes then they cracked the shell of the oyster and handed to me and it looked like it was moving then I put it in my mouth and it was YUCK this boy Sione liked it then we hopped back into our Kayak’s then headed back to camp when we got to the beach we got into pears and took each Kayak up onto the land we headed were the Kayak boats are and took off our Life jackets and then my other Partner said a Thank-You note to Erin then we all headed back to camp in our soaking togs I grabbed my towel and wrapped it around me.

It was time for Afternoon tea for Afternoon tea we hand santernaied our hands and then had BIscuit and Fruit we ate our BIscuit and fruits and headed to our next activity our last activity for the week was going to be, Rafts, Rafts if were you build a boat kind of thing out of Wood,Barrels and String and the String would keep it together so we went onto the sand and started building our boat our boat had to fit all of us onto it.When we were building it, it was beginning to be a great boat it could fit all of us on it,when we finished I was proud of what we could build because I think our Raft could make it out to the Pontoon and the Pontoon was pretty and that’s where all the teams have to try and make it to and one person has to touch it.So we popped our life jackets on and lifted the Raft into the water and grabbed our paddles I was at the front so we put it in the water and started balding at first we were going to wear then this boy John lefted the Raft with all of us on it and started pushing us then he let go and we were palding we were getting closer and closer to the Pontoon. I could hear my team yelling we're gonna make it Yay then we were right next to the Pontoon they all shouted at me and saying touch the Pontoon so I reached and touched it then I did a stupid thing I tried to jump on the Pontoon and the whole Raft broke they were all anger at me and I was like a Lifesaver instead of saving people I was saving the Barles.So I got the Barles and then they bring the Raft back and it was hard to untie but it was pretty fun so we all went back to camp and then went for another swim.Instead of jumping off the Pontoon I was jumping off the Waf and I was jumping off it with Nevaeh,Levonah and Jahzara and it was the best time of my life.I was jumping off diving into the water and it was so fun they 30 minutes later it was time to go for a shower so I grabbed my stuff went for a shower and come outside and had free time.

20 minutes later the Bugle rang and it was time for dinner I was pretty hunger so I was gonna have two plates so my team was sent in we sat down at our table waited to be choosing then when we were choosing we went up and had our dinner for dinner we were having bread,patty,sausage,salad and roasted potatoes and it was delicious so I had to have two so when we finished that it was time for dessert we had the same thing from Wednesday night then when all of us finished Mr Sommerville told us to go up stairs get changed into our darkest clothes and brush our teeth and come back down because we were going to play SPOTLIGHT. I was wearing long black pants with a adidas black jumper I came back downstairs and Mr Sommerville told us the rules the rules were all the teachers have a flashlight and all the teachers will try and find you but only flashing it on if they hear it and if they don’t see it then they have to switch it right off then it was time to play I heard Mr J say HIDE NOW so I ran hide behind a tree with Quincess and Nevaeh then we moved towards the bush and stayed they but then a few minutes later we were found so we had to go back to the volleyball net and wait then Mr J blew the Bugle and that means if your still hide you lose we all looked into the circle and there was only one person and the was Arthur we played 6 rounds and I only made it once.So we were finished then Mr Sommerville told all of us to go up to our cabins and go to bed so I went up got into my Pjs and went to sleep I had a great and amazing time at camp I want to go back.

A big thank-you to Peter and Erin the people who ran this awesome and amazing camp i’m so glad that I went because I wouldn't have had that much fun and spent that much time with my friends.I also want to say thank-you to all the whanau that helped and teachers who took there time out of work and helped us with this Camp it was a great opportunity for all of us to spend more time together and we all appreciate what you guys did for us. Also a huge Thank-You to Mrs Coope the amazing lady we made us our Breakfast,Lunch and Dinner it was all yummy and we are happy that you came along with us.Another Thank-You to Miss Timmi who kept us feed and kept our things tidy we all appreciate what all of you guys did and THANK-YOU.

Conclusion:

At camp I really enjoyed swimming my main highlight was swimming because we gotta jump of the wharf and because it was really fun jumping off the wharf with my friends the other thing I enjoyed was Kayaking because it was funny when the other people in my team fell out of Kayak and because we got to taste oysters.I learnt something from the Concourse that you can be confident in anything you do and to encourage each other.

The Great Crayfish Escape

Task Description:For this task we had to read a book about a Crayfish escaping from being somebody's food.Then this boy feels sorry for the Crayfish and takes him back home but then there dog-Teabag takes the Crayfish back to the beach and then the Crayfish goes back home.

Decimal Problem 2

Walt: use add/ sub strategies to solve tricky decimal problems.
Task Description: For this task we had do a problem about decimal's and we had to figure out the answers.When I was doing this task at first it was hard but then I started cracking it we had three problems to do on this task and they were all about decimal's.When we finish we have to ask our teacher if we can post it and if he says yes then we can.

Decimal Place Value 2

Task Description: For this task we are doing a decimal place value chart.When we are doing this task we then saying seven point eight three two and then we have to put the numbers in the right place.When we finish we have to ask our teacher if we can post it and if he says yes then we can.

Piri and the Tekoteko 2nd one

Task Description:For this task we read the same text as the other one and we also had to answer question.When were doing this task we have to go through the book to find some answer in the text also.When we finish we have to ask our teacher if we can post it and if he says yes then we can.

Piri and The Tekoteko

Task Description: For this task we had to read a text about a boy named Piri and a tekoteko. Piri at first is scared of the tekoteko because of the why he's looking at him with his wideden eyes.When we finish we have to ask our teacher if we can post it and if he says yes then we can.
