New Zealand Sign Language-Writing

What is sign language? Sign language is a combination of hand shapes, facial expression and visual gestures. This is to help the deaf community understand what the government and other people are saying. It also provides full access to communication, it isn’t just used for deaf community it is also used for people who can hear but can’t speak.

NZ sign language (NZSL) is unique. It is a natural language of NZ deaf community, NZ sign language is also strictly home-grown because it originated here in NZ. NZSL is New Zealand’s third official language and it became it in April 2006.NZSL has its own grammar as well as other languages and it also has ways of expressing concepts that are not identical to spoken language.

Sign Language is the 12th most frequently used language in NZ. As one of New Zealand’s official languages 24,000 New Zealanders use NZSL daily. English is the first language that is spoken more in NZ and sign language is the 12th language that is spoken in NZ.

Measurement Madness

Task Description: This is my maths work and it's about circles, areas, and many more things. I didn't make that much sense to me figuring out the area on the triangles but when it was explained to me it made more sense. I used a calculator to help me figure out the area and it was really fun because I wasn't lost. I really enjoyed this task.

Hinewehi Mohi Game changer- Reading

Task Description: This is my reading task for the week and it's about the game changer, Hinewehi Mohi. We had to read a text and then put it into word groups. When we finished we had to record our self reading the text, after that we had to right down other words for different meanings. We then had to do a create task.

Hinewehi Mohi- Writing

Hinewehi Mohi was raised speaking Te Reo Maori. Her father is Maori and her mother is British and Irish, she was born in the historic Hawks bay town of Waipukurau. Her father never knew how to speak Te Reo but at the age of 36 he learnt, taught her at the age of 10 and there whanau how to speak Maori.
Hinewehi Mohi is also educated in Te Reo. She went to an all girls Maori school in Hastings, the school she went to was St Joseph's/ Hato Hōhepa. In 1985 she attended a University in Waikato where she was in the Maori department, so that's where she learnt more things about the Maori culture and lots of other things.
Her first album was released in 1999. The name of her song was called Oceania, the whole song was in Te Reo Maori. She has around 20 songs that have been released, in 1999 she was in London to release her first song. She was then asked to sing the national anthem for NZ for the Rugby World cup, and that's when she shook all the rugby fans at the stadium and back at home.
