Starry Night-Art Work

As you guys know this term's theme is "Art Alive", Room 4 has been learning about the famous artist Vincent Van Gogh and his famous art work. We have been learning about one specific art work from Vincent which is called the Starry night. Van Goghs used short brush strokes, colour and texture he used these in most of his paintings.

A few weeks ago Room 4 tried to draw the starry night with pencil and pastel's. Recently we have been painting the starry night and we used the same techniques as Vincent we used short brush strokes and we also used different shades of colors. When I did mine i thought it was going to turn out bad but it turned out really good and it was fun learning some news ways to paint.

10 Tips for Blog Commenting

This is my poster about tips for Blog commenting. The Reason why we did this poster is because it's manaiakalani film festival on Wednesday and we need to practice our blog comments to comment on other peoples blogs. I worked on this poster with my friend Oalii and we both did 5 tips each to add up to ten. This task was really fun to do and really easy.

Immersion Assembly- Art Alive

Monday the 12th of October was the first day back for Term 4. In the morning at 9:00 am Team 5 headed to the hall for Immersion assembly along with the rest of the school. The theme for Term 4 is Art Alive.

My two favourite items were Team 5 and Team 4. Team 5 was my 1st favourite item and they performed a play, it was about two people walking around an exhibition looking at the different arts and describing what they are. Team 4 was my 2nd favourite item and they had a video and it was about the teachers on their hangout talking about what their item was about, they each had to draw something and when they were done they had to judge each other's art, they then had to choose the best one the best art was Miss Tu’a her one was patterns.

I am so excited for this Term because it’s about Art and I can’t wait for what the teachers have planned for this Term Art Alive.

Measurement Madness

Task Description: This is my maths work and it's about circles, areas, and many more things. I didn't make that much sense to me figuring out the area on the triangles but when it was explained to me it made more sense. I used a calculator to help me figure out the area and it was really fun because I wasn't lost. I really enjoyed this task.

Special Moment- Maori Language Week

Today is the first day of Maori language week. We are celebrating it by having a moment to sing a waita. At 12:00 our whole school is going to be singing a waita over the intercom. People around NZ are doing the same things as some schools around NZ.

The reason we are doing this is because in 1972, 30,000 signed the petition and gave it to Parliament on the 14th of September 1972 at 12:00 pm. Back in the day you were not allowed to speak your native language, if you spoke your native language in school you would be hit with a cane, so when people spoke their native language in public it was like swearing to other people. We must treasure our language.

Measuring Tapa Cloth

This is our problem for maths and we had to find the area and perimeter of this tapa cloth. On the tapa cloth it only shows the length and width of one rectangle and it is 20cm and 15 cm. Zaeeda gave us a clue by timing the square's at the top with the 20 cm because it's the width of the tapa cloth. I timed it and got 120cm, then I did the same to the length of the cloth and I got 105 cm. I then added it all together to get the perimeter and I got 450cm. Then I added the 120 and 105 for the area and got 12600cm squared. This task was good because I was that stuck on figuring out the area and perimeter.
