Plastic Pollution Crisis-Writing

WALT: to organise our ideas into paragraphs

Have you ever thought of how much Plastic gets dumped onto and into the land, ocean? We need to find a way to reduce and eliminate single use plastic products, so our animals are not endangered. 14 billion tons of Plastic gets dumped onto land which then gets swept into the ocean. 267 species around the world are endangered by plastic pollution and some are almost becoming extinct.

What is Plastic Pollution?Plastic Pollution is Plastic Particles that end up in the Earth’s environment and in the ocean which affects our animals. Plastic objects such as Plastic Bottles,Rubbish Bags,Chip packets always end up on land but then get swept from heavy rain via storm drains and sewer overflows.

Have you thought about the number of plastic’s you're reducing?.Try to reduce the number of harmful, wasteful and non-recyclable products you buy.As much as possible try to avoid buying single-use plastics and items with excessive plastic packaging. If you start reducing the number of plastic’s you’re using, this will result in less waste materials ending up in the ocean and in landfills.

Have you thought about Recycling?Recycling is the most environmentally friendly waste disposal method. Recycling the plastic objects you're using can help stop pollution in the ocean and on land. Reason why recycling is good because it reduces the need for extracting, refining and processing raw materials which create substantial air and water pollution.

These are some reasons why Plastic pollution is a crisis all around the world. Maybe you could stop using single-use plastics and refusing plastic items like plastic bags, water bottles and more plastic objects. Try to use the 5 R’S:Refuse,Reduce,Reuse,Repursope and Recycle, End single-use plastic.

New Zealand Sign Language-Writing

What is sign language? Sign language is a combination of hand shapes, facial expression and visual gestures. This is to help the deaf community understand what the government and other people are saying. NZ sign language (NZSL) is unique. It is a natural language of NZ deaf community, NZ sign language is also strictly home-grown because it originated here in NZ. NZSL is New Zealand’s third official language and it became it in April 2006.NZSL has its own grammar as well as other languages and it also has ways of expressing concepts that are not identical to spoken language.

Sign Language is the 12th most frequently used language in NZ. As one of New Zealand’s official languages 24,000 New Zealanders use NZSL daily. English is the first language that is spoken more in NZ and sign language is the 12th language that is spoken in NZ.

Chesterfield Skink Writing-Report

Chestfield Skink

WALT: research and present factual information

Chesterfield skink is one of the top ten most endangered species in Aotearoa/NZ.

Common name Chesterfield skink
Scientific Name Oligosoma salmo

Status: e.g at risk of extinction: The situation for the Chestfield skink is there are
animals that prey on them and want to make them their food.Since they are small
they can’t protect themselves.

Physical description: A skink is a lizard with legs, it is very small, looks like a small
snake, has a very long and strong tail to grip objects and climb.

Habitat (Location): They live in the West coast of New Zealand. They love dry
open areas with lots of space to hide.

Diet: They eat a range of small insects, different types of fruits. They search for
food during day time.

Current population numbers: There are fewer than 200 of the skinks left.

Reason species are endangered: Because animals such as rats, mice, mustelids, cats
and native weka’s prey on Chestfield skink’s and eat them. But there favoured by native wekas.

Conservation measures (what is being done to protect this species): There is an
intensive trapping and bait network within a fence that will hopefully protect the
chesterfield skinks from predators.

Future outlook: The future outlook depends on two things: increasing the number
of places for chestfield skinks to hide and reducing the number of mammal
predators.

Fun facts: When chestfield skinks are born they are left on their own and have
to look after themself. The life span for skinks is a vary of 5-20 years. Chestfield
skinks were discovered in the 1990’s but they were already in a critical state. They give birth to three to four babies every two years.

Persuasive Writing- Rona and the Moon

Rona should not have said those terrible things about Marama, the moon. Marama does not control the clouds, so when the cloud went in front of Marama she can’t just move it out of the way. Marama had the right to feel insulted because Rona said the rudest and worst thing someone could ever say to another person.

Rona should have also used her common sense, you shouldn’t be running down a path at night because it’s dangerous. Also when it suddenly went dark she should have just stopped running and walked. If you're running there’s a high chance you're gonna have a bigger impact if you fall, but if you're walking there’s a lower chance of you falling hard.
Task Description: This is my writing task for the week. What we had to do was pick a Stance, Stance 1 was supporting Rona of her action's on how she insulted Marama or Stance 2 which was the other way around which is not supporting her. I picked stance 2, I then had to put down five points, then I had to pick two and put them in paragraphs. I had to write why she shouldn't have done what she did.

Joseph Parker at Assembly

Today at the assembly we had two very, very special guests. They were the famous Joseph and Elizabeth Parker. Ms Carter was the
one who got Joseph and Elizabeth to come to Pt England School for
assembly. When I walked into the hall, I was very shocked to see thee
Joseph Parker sitting right in front of the stage beside his
Boss Sister- Elizabeth. The whole school was whispering to each
other and talking about how Joseph Parker was here. After we sang
the national anthem and did the quiz Joseph came up to the microphone.
Mr Burt said if Joseph Parker could play a song on the guitar and he
said yes, he played his song and it was so good I didn’t know Joseph
Parker could play the guitar. Then Joseph said I very inspiring speech,

he said two very important words it was, " BELIEVE IN YOUR SELF"
and "NOTHING BEATS HANDWORK". We should always believe in our
self and always remember "NOTHING BEATS HARD WORK. Joseph and
Elizabeth also helped with the certificates and handing out the welcome
to Pt England books. Pt England school is so grateful that Joseph could
come to our school say so very inspirational words.

Acknowledging Mr and Mrs Burt

Today was a very special day. We celebrated something for two very special people., who have done a lot of things for our community, school and the kids of NZ. These two very important people's names are Russell Burt and Dorthay Burt; they are also known as Mr Burt and Mrs Burt. Mr Burt is a proud principle of Pt England School and Mrs Burt works alongside Mr Burt.

Today we celebrated Mr Burt’s achievements by being recognised by Queen Elizabeth. Mr Burt was acknowledged for his services to Primary Education, Pt England school also acknowledged him for being kind and very very hardworking and also being committed to helping kids learn better.

At assembly Pisirana was saying a nice speech to Mr Burt then AJ said a prayer and when he said “ In Jesus name amen” all the senior’s stood up and sang a very heart warming song in Samoan. Then when the senior’s finished singing the Samoan song we moved straight into another song but it was in Maori. The rest of the school stood up and sang the Maori song which was Ka waiata we were singing so loud so Mr Burt and Mrs Burt could feel the love we were sending them and also to show we were proud of them both.

When the song finished two Ex student’s from Pt England stood up and
started doing a Haka for Mr and Mrs Burt and some Year 7 and 8 boys stood
up and did the haka with them. When the haka finished we all started
clapping and said we were so PROUD of Mr and Mrs Burt.

This is what I think Mr Burt is. Mr Burt is the best principal that he
would do anything to help kids get a good education and will always love
and support them even when they make bad decisions. My parents even
say he’s the best principal and even better than their principal's when
they were young. Mr and Mrs Burt are hard working and will never stop
trying to help kids get a good education!
-(I think this is the badge that was presented at assembly)

What's the point- Writing

Task Description: This is my writing task for Week 9 Term2. In this task we had to watch a little video about the Boy who cried wolf, you may have heard of it but it is about a boy who lied about there being a wolf in the village and the people in the village went to see if there was but there wasn't. Then a wolf really did a appear and the people of the village didn't believe the boy when he said there was a wolf then the wolf ate all the little boys sheep. The moral of this story is to never lie about something because it could come true. On the other slides we answer question like what is the message behind this fable or what is the story about and other question. We then had to do a create task which was making up a story.

Lock-down Day 9- About My Day

Day 9 Lockdown|School Holidays

Today is April the 3rd. It is also the 9th day of lock-down, and also the school holidays.
This morning I woke up feeling great and ready to start my day off good.

Today I woke up and hopped straight out of bed. I brushed my teeth and washed my
face, then I  got changed into exercise clothes. I did my hair nice, and grabbed my
shoes and socks and put them on. I grabbed the PS4 controller and played some Fortnite.
I only played for a little while because I was waiting for my Dad to wake up and
get ready. My Dad got ready and then I grabbed two pieces of Fruit which were
Pears and we ate them while we were walking.

We walked down to Pt England. We walked on the new path way, there were some
people riding bikes, walking their dog and some were running. I rode my scooter and
walked. We walked all the way down to Dunkirk and back. On our way back we
stopped at Pt England Reserve and I did 30 push ups, 30 sit ups and my Dad did
50 push ups and 50 sit ups. Then we walked back to our house and me and my
Dad were going to the Loaf Bakery. When we were driving there were still a lot of
people on the road, but when we got there the shop was closed unfortunately.
My Dad went and trouble checked to see if it was closed and it was. We wanted to get
their Pies because their Pies are delicious.

We drove all the way back home and stopped at Pt England Shops and brought
some Onion Ring Chips. When we got home we went for a shower, when I finished
I went into the kitchen and cooked myself my own breakfast. I was careful while
using the stove. I cooked me an Omelet and Bacon and it was scrumptious.
We cleaned up and after that I went onto my chromebook and watched Youtube.
After a long time I had to hope for the chromebook. My Mum started making dinner
and she was cooking Chicken Pie, and that was my favorite.

I helped my Mum cook. After 10 minutes of cooking the food it was time to eat it,
I couldn’t wait to eat it. I could smell the delicious Chicken and Pastry.
In the Chicken Pie was Chicken of course and mixed veggies and pastry.
I dug into the pie and it was like heaven. I had two slices of pie and one piece of
garlic bread. After dinner we cleaned up and watched my Dad play Apex and then
went to bed.

Task Description: For this task I just wrote about what I did today. What I did today was exercise and play on my Chromebook. The reason why I am blog posting is to keep my learning up and just to post something each day. When I finish I put it on my blog with a task description, labels and a title and then post it.

Day 5 Of Lockdown NZ- What I'm doing

Day 5 Of Lockdown For NZ|School Holidays

Today is March the 30th of 2020 and also the 5th day of Lockdown for NZ. First of all,
staying home is a lot more boring than what I expected it to be.

This morning at 6:00am was a very chilly morning. When I woke up it
felt like a weird morning, maybe because none of my other family members
were awake? I don’t know. When I woke up I tried creeping to the toilet without
waking my siblings and parents up, then I flushed the toilet and went to brush my teeth.
I creeped to the cupboard and grabbed a blanket out of the cupboard and creeped to
the couch.

I quietly grabbed the PS4 controller and turned it on then grabbed the gaming
headset and plugged it in. I can’t remember how long I was watching Youtube
but I was watching it for a while, then I got a friend request from Paschal-
(In Rm 2 my class)
and we started playing Fornite together and we played squads.
After a while Simon-(In Rm 2) joined our party and we started
playing together then Arthur joined-(Also in Rm2) and we
played creative. After a while Arthur left and then Simon left then it was me
Paschal but then I had to leave to have breakfast.

I went for a shower then had my breakfast and after my
breakfast I cleaned the house up, then went onto my chromebook.
I watched Youtube and a Movie with Simon. Me and Simon don’t
live in the same house but we found out how to watch a movie together.
The movie was 1 hour long, we watched FrankenWeenie. After the movie
we played some games on the phone and then we played shell shockers.
Soon I am going to have dinner and for dinner we are having a BBQ.

Stay Safe In the Lock-down, Remember to Stay Home To Save Lives.

I am the second youngest out of my family. I have 1 younger brother and 2 older sisters.

my 2 older sisters go
to college and my younger brother comes to Pt England as well.
My Dad is Maori, Niuean and my Mum is Niuen and Cook Island.

I love playing Sports. I play T20 Cricket for Uni-(University Cricket Club),

This Year in 2020, I'm going to be trying out Ki o Rahi for School.

My Favourite subject is Maths and Writing, I don’t really like Reading that much.
I like Writing because I get to write down my thoughts about something, what I imagine
and also write about anything. I also like Maths because I get to think about the questions
hard and when my brain starts to hurt then that means i’m learning something new.

At school I really like playing cards with my friends.
At morning tea me and my friends and some other people
like playing a game called Cheat, the way you play it is you have to have a partner and you also
have to have a signal, then the dealer gives each partner four cards each then the dealer also
put four cards on the table and you have to get the same four cards and when you get it then
you do your signal and your partner has to say your name and cheat. My teachers in Team 5
are really funny and really interesting. They give us hard work but even though it’s hard it
will help us with college work.

A fun fact about me is I like to cook, my Dad is the person
who taught me how to cook and also my Mum.But  Me and my Dad like cooking
homemade burgers with homemade patties and it’s delicious, we also like making spaghetti
bolognese and lots of other delicious things. Sometimes at home I cook dinner for my whole
family and then I don’t have to clean up afterwards. I really enjoy cooking!

 Yours Sincerely,

Zamera

My Six Sentence- Made Up Story

Once upon a time there lived a young, handsome and very rich boy. He lived in a beautiful beach house, surrounded by the smooth and calm ocean in California. He was very skilful at lots of sports, but he mostly enjoyed Cricket and played Cricket the most.  Unfortunately he was a very angry boy, when he got bowled or run out or the ball he hit got caught by the other player he would get very frustrated and angry. His parents wanted to help with not getting angry so they took him to a therapist. So they took him into the city and then the boy saw one of the best  therapists in there country, the therapist asked him some questions about why he was so angry and after that he would never get angry when he played sports.
